A passion for Japan and its history, I wanted to portray one of the most well-known and perhaps enigmatic figures of the Land of the Rising Sun, the geisha! A simple, imaginative portrait that tells, in my own view, the moment of abandonment. Of the return to the purest essence of being a woman. Not having to wear the clothes and makeup that entertain and force one to hide one's demons behind a complacent smile.
