Description from the seller
This painting is the work of the Italian artist Mimmo Germanà (Catania, 1944 – Busto Arsizio, 1992), an exponent of the Transavant-garde, characterized by a bold use of color and by figures with soft and sinuous forms, often immersed in dreamlike landscapes.
Many of his canvases similar to this one date from around 1989-1990 and depict a female figure in the foreground with bright colors ranging from red to orange and yellow.
A background with stylized trees and brushstrokes of blue, green, and purple. The figure seems to be holding an object, probably a shell, near the ear. Signed on the back with date and title.
Germanà is known for having participated in the Venice Biennale in 1980 and his works are today traded in several important Italian auction houses. Canvas dimensions: 70 cm by 40 cm. An attached certificate from the General Archive of the work with number CRSCRSRA/OT.
The lot will be carefully packed and shipped with affiliated couriers and online tracking. For this lot, shipments outside the European Community are not made.
