Table lamp (2) - Glass, Brass, Steel - Set

This set consists of two almost identical table lamps with a distinctly elegant, vintage appearance. The combination of brass/gold-toned metal and the large opal-white, half-round shades gives the lamps a luxurious yet sleek character. The design strongly recalls modernist and late mid-century interior styles, with a geometric base, a slender column, and a wide dome shade.

Both lamps feature a broad, gently curved white shade that diffuses the light softly. When the lamp is on, the shade takes on a warm cream- to goldish glow. Under the shade there is a striking U-shaped gold-colored bracket that visually releases the shade from the vertical stem. On top of each shade sits a small spherical gold-colored knob with a metal cap plate beneath it.

The stems are made of gold/brass-toned metal and have a particularly decorative detail: both above and below a diagonal, spiral seam runs through the cylindrical column. This combines glossy gold-colored sections with a matte or brushed middle portion. Especially up close, this gives the lamps a high-quality and distinctive appearance.

The feet are also notably shaped. They are wide, low, and geometric, with a rounded/oval base and above it a thin metal cover plate that tapers to a subtle point on each side. A separate, mirrored gold-colored insert lies around the stand. The different degrees of sheen in the metal cause the shape to look slightly different depending on the lighting.

The two lamps clearly form a matching pair, but they are not 100% identical. A careful comparison reveals small differences. For example, the shape and proportion of the white shades differ slightly: one shade looks a touch fuller and deeper, while the other appears flatter and wider. The connection of the shade to the U-shaped bracket and the position of the inner workings/light source also differ subtly. In one lamp the light source is more visibly seen from certain angles beneath the shade’s rim. There also seem to be minor differences in the upper metal finish, the diagonal detailing of the columns, and the exact shape/proportion of the feet. These nuances are small and become noticeable mainly when the lamps stand side by side.

The lamps show light signs of use and age, fitting a vintage set. There are fine scratches, discolorations, and small imperfections on the metal, and the white shades show occasional light signs of wear. Based on the photos, the lamps appear complete and well cared for. Both lamps can be lit to display their warm, atmospheric glow.

Because of their nearly identical design, they are ideal as a symmetrical pair—for example on two nightstands, a long sideboard, two coffee tables, or flanking a couch. It is precisely the small inter-item differences that emphasize that this is a vintage set and give each piece its own character.
