G. Manzoni - Epopea di Savoia - 1930

Important historical volume “Epic of Savoy – Rhapsodic Cycle of 500 sonnets with historical-literary notes” by G. Manzoni, dedicated to the history of the House of Savoy and of Italy.

The work is illustrated with Savoy iconography from its origins to our days, and this edition appears published in Rome in 1930 (VIII) by Libreria del Littorio.

The volume retraces, through 500 sonnets and historical-documentary apparatus, the Savoy dynasty, from its origins to Vittorio Emanuele III, also including a section dedicated to Italian events of the early twentieth century.

Conditions

Era-specific specimen in generally decent/good condition considering its age. The red cloth cover shows discolorations, signs of use, small stains and wear at the edges and corners. The inner pages show natural yellowing and age-related foxing/blemishes, as visible in photographs.

A work of notable historical, bibliographic and documentary interest, proposed as an editorial testimony of monarchic Italy and the fascist period. The political references present are to be understood exclusively within their historical-documentary context.

The photographs constitute an integral part of the description and show the actual state of conservation of the specimen.
