Description from the seller
Sanlé Sory (1943–2023)
Two Dandies / Dandies, 1974
Black-and-white silver print by Sanlé Sory, depicting two elegantly dressed young men posing in his studio in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso.
Shot in 1974, this photograph is characteristic of Sanlé Sory's universe and his work around youth, fashion, and Haute-Volta society in the 1960s and 1970s.
Hand-signed “SORY SANLE” beneath the image.
The work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by the Paris gallery, which will be handed to the buyer with the print.
Dimensions:
Sheet: about 30 × 24 cm
Image: about 22 × 22 cm
Year of the photograph: 1974
Condition and verso
The print is in good conservation condition.
The print was kept mounted to the mat with adhesive strips fixed to the back by the framer. When removing, I deliberately cut these strips rather than attempt to peel them off the paper, in order to avoid any risk of damaging the print.
Small remnants of these adhesive strips are therefore still present on the back, as shown in the photographs. They do not affect the image or the overall condition of the print.
I preferred to leave them in place and leave to the buyer, or to their professional framer, the care to decide whether they wish to keep them or remove them under appropriate conditions.
The frame and the mat visible in some photographs are not included in the sale.
The sale includes the original signed photographic print and its certificate of authenticity.
The detailed photographs are an integral part of the description."
