Tissot TISSOT QUARTZ hunter-case pocket watch with a Swiss-made quartz movement in a chromed case, 45 mm diameter, about 65 g, dating from 1970–1979, in good condition with light wear and currently running with a fresh battery, no box or papers.
Description from the seller
Introduction
A handsome Tissot hunter-case pocket watch housing a Swiss-made quartz movement behind a white dial signed TISSOT QUARTZ with bold Roman numerals and slender black hands. The snap-shut outer cover carries a fine engine-turned guilloche pattern with a decorative cartouche at the centre, and the inner caseback opens to reveal the compact quartz module. The dial text reads SWISS at the lower edge, confirming Swiss manufacture.
Historical / Era context
Tissot, founded in Le Locle in 1853, has produced hunter-case pocket watches throughout its history, and this style — engine-turned case, Roman-numeral dial, quartz movement — places it firmly in Tissot's later pocket-watch range produced for the collector and gift market from the 1970s onward. The adoption of a quartz caliber kept the classic hunter silhouette alive with modern reliability. The serial number stamped on the inner caseback lid reads 563210.
Condition
The watch is running and keeping good time. The watch was checked running at the time of listing with a fresh battery. Battery life and long-term accuracy are not guaranteed. As a vintage timepiece it may benefit from a service.
Case: The case shows scattered light surface marks consistent with careful handling. The hinge and snap closure function correctly. The crown and bow are intact and undamaged. Overall the case presents well.
Dial: The white dial is clean and legible. The printing is sharp, the Roman numerals are crisp, and I can see no staining, fading, or discolouration.
Crystal: The crystal is clear with no cracks visible. There are faint superficial hairline marks on the surface under close inspection, but they do not impair legibility.
Movement: The watch is running. With the caseback opened, the quartz module is visible beneath the display glass of the inner cover — a compact Swiss-made circuit board and stepping motor assembly in good working order.
Accessories: No box, papers, or chain are included.
Please review all photographs carefully for the detailed condition.
