Description from the seller
Introduction
A large open-face Seiko quartz pocket watch in a polished chrome-finished case, the white dial carrying bold Arabic numerals, a railway-style minute track, and the printed legend 'SEIKO' below 12 o'clock. The movement is quartz, caliber 7C11, and the piece runs cleanly. The exterior caseback carries a Japanese engraved inscription reading 平成元年度 大本山本圀寺 布教院沙羅樹賞 — a Buddhist temple prize award from Heisei Year 1 (1989), given by the head temple Honkokuji to the Fukyoin Saraju award recipient — making this a rare, fully documented presentation piece.
Historical / Era context
The caliber 7C11, a quartz pocket-watch movement produced by Seiko in Japan, was supplied for exactly this kind of commemorative or official presentation context. The caseback inscription dates the piece precisely to 1989 (Heisei 1), confirming its origin as an institutional award rather than a retail watch, and the case carries a white base-metal plating mark (ACRP) consistent with Seiko's presentation-grade pocket watches of the period.
Condition
The watch is running and keeping good time. The watch was checked running at the time of listing with a fresh battery. Battery life and long-term accuracy are not guaranteed. As a vintage timepiece it may benefit from a service.
Case: The case surfaces are in very good condition, retaining a strong polish across the bezel, midband, and caseback. There are scattered fine hairline marks consistent with careful handling over the decades, but no dents, deep scratches, or significant plating loss. The bow and crown are intact and function normally.
Dial: The white dial is clean and legible, with all Arabic numerals sharply printed and no visible staining, fading, or discolouration. The hands are well preserved with no notable corrosion.
Crystal: The crystal is clear with no visible cracks. There are light surface marks consistent with age, but these do not impair legibility.
Movement: The quartz movement, caliber 7C11, is running. With the caseback opened, the movement presents a tidy quartz plate with gold-toned coil/stepper-motor components and a battery fitted, all in good order.
Accessories: No box, papers, or chain are included.
Please review all photographs carefully for the detailed condition.
