Description from the seller
Masterpiece of art cabinetry by the famous Maison Cassegrain, Paris (422, rue Saint-Honoré).
A rare opportunity to acquire a flagship piece of high stationery and Parisian art de vivre from the 20th century. This beveled table frame is no longer produced today and the historic house has definitively closed its doors, making this complete exemplar a true showroom and collection object.
Exceptional marquetry: Beveled frame in elm burl veneer with a precious, warm, and highly graphic aesthetic (tortured grain with natural “eyes”).
Fine inlay work: Delicate geometric checkerboard frieze hand-crafted along the border, assembling contrasting precious woods (citronnier and ebony).
Haute Couture finishes: The easel back is fully veneered with fauve-colored suede fabric, stamped with the house Cassegrain’s official gilded signature.
Condition: Exceptional – New Old Stock. The item has never been used. Note the very light and superb natural patina (slightly lighter/yellow-green tone) on the varnish of the lower part, testifying to its age and authenticity.
Original complete presentation box: Sold with its original deep blue cardboard box monogrammed in warm gold and its original tissue paper stamped with the brand logo.
