To Frederik Hendrik Hendriks (1808–1865) – Romantic woodland landscape – Dutch School 19th Century - Oil on oak panel – Original monumental frame & wrought nails – Matching inventory no. 50480
Description: Magnificent, highly atmospheric and of museum quality 19th-century Dutch Romantic landscape painting by the renowned master Frederik Hendrik Hendriks (1808–1865). The artwork shows a highly detailed forest scene with prominent ancient oaks and figures (staffage) by a sandy path, rendered with a sublime play of light, shadow and Dutch cloudscape, typical of the Romantic School.
Artist: Dutch School
To Frederik Hendrik Hendriks (1808–1865)
Technique: Oil on oak panel.
Period: Mid 19th century (ca. 1840–1860).
Frame: Mounted in a beautiful, exceptionally deep and heavy monumental gilded gallery frame from the period.
Absolute highlights & provenance (Extremely authentic & untouched):
The back of the artwork has been carefully inspected and yields rare, ironclad evidence of the untouched 19th-century history:
Identical inventory numbers: The unique historical collection/inventory number "50480" exactly matches and is applied both on the back of the frame and on the oak panel itself [cM9u5S, zlqNc3, SD8VwY]. This proves they have belonged together since the origin.
Original hand-forged nails: The panel is completely fixed with the original, blacksmith-forged nails, confirming that the mounting has never been opened since the 19th century [vmFgWO].
Artisan-sanded edges: The back of the oak panel shows the original, 19th-century hand-sanded edges (beading), characteristic of old craftsmanship to fit the panel perfectly into the recess.
Condition: The painting is in good, stable antique condition. The paint layers are solid with slight, age-appropriate craquelure. The heavy oak panel is sound, true to the core and dry, with the expected non-active old woodworm holes appropriate to its age.
Dimensions: Panel size: 16 x 12 cm
Total size (including frame): 34 x 29 cm
Shipping:
Due to the value and weight of the monumental frame, this painting will be packed with the greatest professional care using multiple layers of bubble wrap, corner protectors and a sturdy cardboard box. Global shipping with full insurance and Track & Trace.
