Description from the seller
European Alpine Landscape – European School, 19th Century
Oil on canvas depicting a evocative Alpine landscape, with a small architectural nucleus situated beside a lake or pond and dominated by a church with a distinctive pointed tower. In the distance, a spectacular mountain range stretches across, under a cloud-covered sky that adds depth and drama to the composition.
The artist pays particular attention to the reflections on the water surface, creating a sense of serenity and depth. The combination of bluish tones, greens and ochres, along with the meticulous brushwork in the architecture and vegetation, is characteristic of the Central European landscape painting tradition.
The work is presented in a decorative frame of a later period or restored, with a silvered appearance and richly ornamented, which enhances the presence of the painting.
Details:
* Medium: oil on canvas
* School: European
* Period: 19th century
* Theme: Alpine landscape / lakescape
* Motif: European village beside a lake and mountains
* Signed in the lower right area (the signature should be verified by a detail photograph).
* Presented in a decorative frame.
A piece with a distinctly decorative and romantic character, especially attractive to collectors of European landscape painting from the 19th century
