Fabio Imperiale presents terraferma, a unique 2026 mixed-media portrait on a collage of vintage postcards and other cutouts, framed at 66 × 66 cm (50 × 50 cm artwork), signed by hand, with a certificate of authenticity, produced in Italy and sold directly from the artist.
Description from the seller
Title:
Technique: coffee and tar on collage of vintage postcards and other scraps of antique paper
Unique artwork
Dimensions: 50 × 50 cm
Framed dimensions: 66 × 66 cm
Year of creation: 2026
Signature: on the back
I provide Certificate of authenticity and ownership of the work
The work represents a half bust of a female figure seen from the back, painted on a collage of antique postcards and other cutouts, for example sheet music or maps, which become an integral part of the composition.
The technique used favors dialogue between image and memory, transforming the support into a visual archive of stories and suggestions.
The figure emerges with delicacy thanks to a palette of sepia tones and natural earths, while the updo and the pose give a sense of intimacy and suspension.
The only postcard visible on the illustration side shows an illustration of the Matterhorn.
The balance between contemporary figuration and vintage materials, between classic and modern, is the result of research that unites figuration and memory, intended for those who know how to appreciate not only the image but the value of detail and layering
The work is framed.
In case of purchase, after payment it is possible to add insurance to the shipment,
at an additional cost of 3% of the sale price.
Shipping by express courier specialized in transport of artworks.
The work can also be collected at the artist's studio, in Rome.

BRIEF BIO
I have always drawn since childhood. I approached painting in 2004, self-taught. In the early years I experimented with several techniques and themes.
The female figure has always been present in my painterly research, even if over the years I worked on other series of works, especially urban landscapes and scenes of crowds or individuals.
In 2015 I turned to old postal material as support for my works: letter envelopes, postcards, maps, letters and manuscripts, and the woman returned to being the exclusive protagonist of my painting.
For many years I have collaborated with numerous galleries, I exhibit in solo and group shows and regularly participate in art fairs.
Since 2014 I have a painting studio in Rome, in Trastevere.
In 2021, following the Covid period, I conceived Marginalia, a project of home-made residencies in which I was hosted in a different house in every region of Italy, creating a painting in each residence. All material produced was later exhibited in Milan in November 2023 in a large solo show at the Fondazione Matalon and in Rome in 2025 at WeGil.
