Lidded vase - Opaline glass - Candy box / bonbon

Rara Bonbonnière / Flacon Box in Opaline Glass Turquoise and Gilded Bronze – Attributed to Baccarat / Saint-Louis, France, 19th Century.

Elegant and refined antique bonbonnière (or flacon box) from the 19th Century (Napoleon III / Charles X period), made in precious blown opaline glass in the characteristic bleu turquoise hue (bleu céleste).
The body, with an elongated lines on a circular foot and a baluster stem, is topped by a shaped lid finished with a finely chased gilded bronze knop in the form of a pinecone. The lid is hinged to the body by a gilded bronze band (ormolu) decorated with guilloché pattern and a shaped closure.
The brilliance of the glass blend, the purity of the opaque blue, and the quality of the metal mounting’s chased work point to French glassmakers of the era, attributed to Baccarat or Saint-Louis.

Notes for collectors
Opaline-turquoise pieces produced by Baccarat and Saint-Louis in the mid-19th century were made without engraved marks (as acid-etch or punch marks were regularly introduced only starting in 1936). The exemplary glassblowing quality and the gilded bronze details make this piece a highly charming decorative object with historical collectible value.
