Description from the seller

The painting, wash on panel, depicts a face with a very deep, almost touching gaze that recalls a state of intimate introspection where the viewer can identify with it or interpret it. The braid is meant to symbolize bonds, the memory of female history, and a search for one's own identity that wants to break out of imposed parameters or definitions.

The painting here has more concise and expressive characteristics, with lacquer-like notes, and it stands out from the artist's other oil works for the delicacy of the tones.

It expresses beauty, elegance, and mystery.

The panel is 1.5 cm high.

With the artwork will also be shipped the certificate of authenticity of the original work.

Jara Marzulli's works are part of private collections in many parts of the world, public and museum collections such as in Athens, Catania at MacS, in the Gaeta Pinacoteca, and at the Vittoriale degli Italiani in Gardone Riviera and in Cadiz, Spain. She also collaborates with "The Guide artists", a physical and online store of the finest figurative art worldwide.

There are numerous publications in important catalogs, books, and international-scale paper and online magazines. The latest book, "La statura della palma" published by Selvatiche Edizioni, with 15 images of her works, in collaboration with poet Francesca del Moro, is available on various stores and platforms or via ordini@selvaticheedizioni.com

Jara Marzulli
was born in Bari and graduated from the Bari Art High School and later from the Bari Academy of Fine Arts with top marks. Since 1998 she has participated in exhibitions and competitions, quickly receiving awards and important selections.

Her figurative realist painting style became immediately recognizable, and since 2004 international experiences in fairs, biennials, and important exhibitions began.

Her art grows and tells of a feeling that is both ecstatic and carnal, made even more piercing and moving by the technical perfection that distinguishes the artist. A lucid and wrenching expressive quality, an indefinable purity that dresses in painting, a constant play of displacements, of role reversals between the artist who paints and the depicted subject.

Numerous are the prestigious Biennials and art exhibitions where she has shown in Italy and abroad, such as Turkey, Art Taipei Fair, Taiwan, China at Red Elation Gallery, Hong Kong, MEAM Museum, Barcelona, Dublin, the Mainz Museum, Buenos Aires in Argentina, and London.

Jara Marzulli's figures have intense, direct, frontal gazes. They have the dignity of subjects ready to respond with great immediacy. The characters that occupy almost the entire space of the canvas manage to visually represent men, women, girls and boys who seem to recognize the observer as a stranger, sustain their gaze, repel him, and distance themselves to defend the silence of their precious inner world.
