In the 1970s, Pierre took photographs for Esquire at the time when Jean-Paul Goude was working for that magazine; he also worked for Oui, Italian Vogue, and in Paris for Elle and Madame Figaro.
From 1980 to 1986, his life split between Paris and New York.
Pierre Houlès moves to Carnegie Hall where they befriend Antonio Lopez, a fashion illustrator who introduces them to the Puerto Rican milieu as well as the world of boxing. At the same time, they meet Bill Cunningham (photographer of New York life), Art Kane, the photographer, the photo studio run by Edita Sherman and the models Cathee Dahmen, Viviane Fauny, Valérie Vidal, Christie Brinkley, etc…
