Jara Marzulli
born in Bari, she graduated from Bari’s Art High School and later from the Academy of Fine Arts of Bari with top marks. Since 1998 she has participated in exhibitions and competitions, quickly receiving recognitions, awards, and important selections.
Her figurative realist painting style is immediately recognizable, and since 2004 international experiences in fairs, biennials, and significant exhibitions began.

Her art grows and tells of a feeling that is at once ecstatic and carnal, made even more incisive and touching by the technical perfection that characterizes the artist. A lucid and piercing expressive quality, an indefinable purity that dons painting, a constant play of displacements, of role reversals between the artist who paints and the depicted subject.

Numerous are the prestigious Biennials and art exhibitions where she has exhibited in Italy and abroad, such as Turkey, Art Taipei Fair in Taiwan, China, Red Elation gallery in Hong Kong, MEAM Museum in Barcelona, Dublin, the Mainz Museum in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and London.

Jara Marzulli’s figures have intense, direct, frontal gazes. They carry the dignity of subjects ready to respond with great immediacy. The characters, occupying almost the entire space of the canvas, visually represent men, women, girls, and boys who seem to recognize the observer as a stranger, sustain their gaze, repel it, and distance themselves to defend the silence of their precious inner world.
