Description from the seller
Rafael Griera (1934-2018) was a Spanish painter, born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, though he trained and spent his entire life in Catalonia. His father owned a workshop of religious imagery in Olot, where he learned the techniques related to this art. At 18, he joined the artistic group called “Cràter d’Art,” whose members were interested in the new avant-garde trends of the time. At the School of Art of Olot, he began to take an interest in the canons of informal painting while drawing inspiration from Vermeer’s work. It is the moment when his career starts to advance and to have his own “hand.” His works become paintings where his characters, almost faceless, resemble ghosts or subjects of unreal dreams that go unnoticed.
In a more mature stage, his work becomes more focused on landscapes, especially urban ones, and on interior scenes of daily life.
The work being presented, Lady in the Garden, has dimensions of 73 cm x 60 cm (height) without a frame and 87 x 76 cm (with frame). It is in perfect condition. It is dated on the back to 1980.
It will be shipped by UPS transport agency, with very careful packaging.
