This large, heavy flared vase in cut crystal from the prestigious Belgian glassworks Val Saint Lambert is an art-glass masterpiece of superb workmanship, shaped between the end of the Art Deco period and the 1950s under the technical direction of Charles Graffart. The piece beautifully captures light thanks to its emerald-green crystal, doubled with an intense, deep shade, and sculpted in a rich traditional geometric cut. The flared upper section is adorned with a spectacular motif of diamond points and latticework cut through the color, while the lower cylindrical section receives a frieze of broad oblong facets in flat facets and vertical lozenges that give the whole a superb architectural structure. Turning the piece over reveals beneath its base a magnificent and deep sixteen-point star ray-cut with a wheel-cut finish, a classic finishing touch by master glassmakers designed to magnify the reflections of the chalice. The absence of an acid-etched or engraved signature under the base is a very common feature on this post-war typology of art glass pieces, which originally carried only a factory label. Weighing a solid 1900 grams, it offers excellent stability on your furniture, and its height is 17 centimeters with a maximum neck diameter of 18 centimeters and a circular pedestal foot with a 10-centimeter base. The vase is in very good overall condition, the material ideally preserving its high brilliance and original transparency, with only one casual trace: a clean chip of about 1 centimeter located on the upper edge of the fluted rim, accompanied by discreet period wear on the underside of the foot that authentically attests to its history.
