Description from the seller

Travel – The Last Confrontation
Sonny Insinna

With Travel – The Last Confrontation, Sonny Insinna continues his Travel series, an ongoing body of work in which animals become silent protagonists of a journey away from the violence, destruction, and monstrosities created by humankind.

Two majestic deer face each other in a suspended moment of tension. Their antlers intertwine, creating an almost sculptural structure at the centre of the composition. What might traditionally be read as a confrontation between two animals becomes, within Insinna’s symbolic language, something more complex: a reflection on conflict, territory, survival, and the fragile balance that exists between living beings.

The intertwined antlers can be interpreted as a metaphor for the conflicts that humanity continually creates. Two beings that could simply coexist become locked in opposition, trapped in a struggle whose meaning extends far beyond the natural world.

In Travel, animals are not merely represented for their physical beauty. They become a language through which I communicate ideas about humanity, violence, survival and the possibility of coexistence. They are witnesses to a world that is increasingly difficult to inhabit—not only for them, but also for us.

The deer embody strength and vulnerability at the same time. Their powerful bodies contrast with the fragility of the moment in which they find themselves entangled. Their antlers, normally a symbol of strength and dominance, here become an obstacle that binds them together.

The pale, almost suspended atmosphere surrounding the animals reinforces this sense of uncertainty. The landscape is deliberately reduced to an essential, timeless space, allowing the figures to become symbols rather than simply representations of nature.

Through oil, charcoal and gestural marks, I seek to maintain a dialogue between precise observation and expressive gesture. The traces of charcoal remain visible, while washes and transparent passages allow the canvas itself to participate in the image, creating an unstable and constantly evolving environment.

As throughout the Travel series, the animals are not simply travelling through a geographical landscape.

They are travelling away from the monstrosities created by human beings, searching for a place where survival does not have to mean conflict.

Travel – The Last Confrontation belongs to Sonny Insinna’s ongoing Travel series, a distinctive contemporary project in which animals become symbolic messengers of a larger reflection on humanity and the world we inhabit.

Each work contributes to a broader visual narrative in which animals leave behind a world increasingly shaped by human violence and environmental destruction. The series transforms their journey into a metaphor for survival, displacement and the search for a different future.

This large-format original is particularly suited to collectors looking for a strong contemporary figurative work with conceptual depth, as well as for those interested in building a collection around the evolving narrative of the Travel series.
