Le Yack - Death on the Nile - Hand signed

On the wooden deck of a felucca with a great white sail billowing, a brunette woman with zigzag curls from the 1930s stands upright, wearing a coral silk backless gown, one hand on the mast, her gaze turned toward the shore. Beyond the sparkling turquoise water rise a pharaonic temple, palm trees, and desert hills. Ethnic-patterned cushions decorate the deck. Semiotically, the scene embodies the glamour of Oriental cruises of the interwar period: flowing silk, the ancient felucca, ruins — travel as a theater of elegance. The coral of the dress bursts like a single flame against the blues of the water and sky and the ochers of the shore. Smooth, refined finish, straightforward solar light, a spirit of Art Deco illustration.

Le Yack, emerging French pop and street art artist. Alexandre Pelletier, known as Le Yack, was born in 1972 in Tours. During his studies, he joined the École Supérieure d'Art et de Design (ESAD) of Orléans. He is a art director in publishing and on the web. Instagram @leyack45. He is exhibited within a network of about forty galleries in France, Germany, Belgium, the United States.
