In an era in which we think freedom of expression is an acquired good, in constant use, but we continually stumble over the true meaning of expression, often generating conflicts between what is civil and what is unshackled! Never do to others what you don’t like done to you! This is your freedom! This is expression!
And this collection presents itself with real-size hands that show expressive signs that replace words which, at their moment, say what is inside of us.
- Hand sculpture in PLA, life-size, decorated with more than 8500 3mm crystals, one by one.
- Limited edition of 3 units.
- Numbered and signed and delivered with CoA
Nuno Sardine is a visual artist whose practice balances at the intersection of carnival aesthetics and contemporary art. His painting is marked by a stylistic fusion between pop culture, the graphic rawness of Street Art, and the emotional and pictorial intensity of neo-expressionism. His work explores narratives, themes of identity, and the eternal quest for creative transgression. He is also a Portuguese costume designer, widely recognized for his role as artistic director, especially linked to Carnival and samba schools in Portugal. He combines training in fine arts and fashion design with the development of Carnival parades, costumes and plots, standing out for creativity in the carnival universe.
Under his direction, several carnival groups have won prizes, including best costumes, best plot and most original show, with many times crowned local and national champions.
These aspects have solidified his reputation as one of the most innovative Carnival artists in Portugal, bringing an artistic approach that values creativity and the visual narrative of Carnival, emphasizing “Open-Air Theatre.”
Nuno Sardine is frequently invited to workshops, masterclasses and talks about Carnival, costumes and creativity.
