In his interpretation of the female body, Paolo Desario seeks the essence, the archetype. The study of form merges with that of the pose, always in balance. By shaping the raw material, clay, the artist gives life to a body and a pose crystallized in time. Yet, the female body radiates freedom.

The artistic and versatile talent of Paolo Desario shines through his works with intensity, releasing a vital energy almost tangible. His inspiration stems from an inner quest with ancient and primordial echoes, as suggested by the sinuous female torsos and the winged figures. He manages to combine reality and transcendence through ever-new insights, achieving an original synthesis between his individual predilection for the essentiality of forms and the most thorough contemporary sculptural research.

Sculptor and painter, Paolo Desario was born in Barletta, in Puglia, and pursued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bari in the sculpture school of Amerigo Tot. He lives and works in Barletta; he has taught Plastic Arts at the State Artistic High School "Sacro Cuore" of Cerignola and at the Art High School of Corato. He boasts an artistic career begun nearly 50 years ago, dedicating himself to sculpture and painting, participating in numerous solo and group national and international exhibitions.
