Italian school (XX) - Alla finestra

It is a post-Impressionist artwork (oil on wooden panel) by the “Italian School,” depicting a still life on a windowsill. The scene is dominated by a transparent glass vase containing a bouquet of red and pink flowers. Beside the vase, on the sill, there are three apples: one red apple and two slightly smaller bone-colored apples. The background consists of a window with a grid pattern on the right and a wide area of blue reflections on the left. The painting style is characterized by quick, visible, impasto brushstrokes. In the lower left corner, a signature of the artist is glimpsed. Panel dimensions: 30 x 40 cm. Frame dimensions: 50 x 40 cm. The Frame: The work is enclosed in a very elaborate and antique frame in Baroque or Rococo style. It is made of gilded wood and richly inlaid with scrolls, foliage, and rosettes at the corners and along the sides. The gilding has an aged patina with darker, worn areas that give a vintage, lived-in look. The structure is massive and heavily adorned, lending the painting an air of great importance and historicity.
