Description
Anatomy of the absence poses a reflection on the human body not as anatomical representation, but as a psychological territory. The figure appears fragmented, folded in on itself and partially absorbed by darkness, turning the body into a space of tension between presence and disappearance.
The hands take on symbolic prominence: they cover, contain, and at the same time seem to try to protect what remains hidden. Anatomy ceases to function as a simple study of the body and becomes emotional language. The closed posture suggests vulnerability, introspection, and a form of silent resistance.
The monochromatic treatment reinforces this reading. The absence of color eliminates any anecdotal reference and concentrates attention on the relationship between light, matter, and shadow. The chiaroscuro contrasts cause certain areas of the body to emerge almost sculpturally while others dissolve into the background, creating an image suspended between the tangible and the intangible.
The work can be interpreted as a meditation on identity, intimacy, and the limits of perception: what part of the body belongs to the one who inhabits it and what part belongs to the gaze of the one who contemplates it?
More than representing a figure, Anatomy of the Absence invites contemplation of what remains when identity, gesture, and form begin to disappear into the darkness.

Alejandro Carballosa, Cuban visual artist and designer residing in Spain, with a career marked by the exploration of strength, emotion, and beauty in the animal and human figure. His work blends technical realism with a contemporary vision, where color, light, and movement acquire a symbolic and expressive language.
Trained in visual arts and design, he integrates the aesthetic sensitivity of classical art with modern resources, creating pieces that balance energy and introspection.
His work has been presented in collective and solo exhibitions, and is part of private collections in Germany and the United States
