Decorative ornament (2) - Italy - Find meaning

2 talamoni (carved) in wood dating from around 1900. Originally set into a boiserie in a palace or ecclesiastical-style furniture. Inspired by Baroque, they depict two male biblical figures. They are in good preserved condition with the original patina of age. They measure 54 x 15 x 13 cm.
