Pancho Porto - stormy days

Small-format bronze sculpture, limited edition, by the Spanish sculptor Pancho Porto.

Pancho Porto (Santiago de Compostela, 1988) began his training in the specialty of artistic carpentry at the Antonio Failde center in Ourense. At this school he had his first contact with disciplines such as carving, drawing, or modeling, and, more importantly, with workshop work.

Later he enrolled at the Mestre Mateo School of Arts and Trades in Santiago de Compostela, where he studied what would later become his main discipline: sculpture. It is at this school where he already works with materials that would be basic to his work, such as steel or clay. Parallel to this, Porto continues his personal training and investigates other materials such as bronze or resins and their multiple uses and finishes.

After this first stage of training, he decides to set up his studio on the banks of the Sarela River, very close to where he was born. It is here that he begins his particular theoretical and practical research into the relationship between the materials used in each work and the message they convey. This leads him to seek new proposals when it comes to communicating and narrating his story. Since then, this has been the habitual tone of his works, thus adding complexity and depth to the entirety of his output, with themes that touch both the social sphere and his personal experiences.
