Description from the seller
Christof Vevers, born in 1962, is a Dutch-born painter. His work is largely devoted to Paris and its many atmospheres. Working in an Impressionist approach, he places particular emphasis on light, variations of colour, reflections and the lively character of urban life.
The artist regularly depicts the great boulevards, squares and iconic areas of the capital, favouring vibrant and luminous compositions. His paintings combine architecture, figures and scenes of daily life to capture the distinctive atmosphere of Paris.
This work, entitled “Paris, boulevard scene”, depicts a lively Parisian boulevard, with the Eiffel Tower visible at the centre of the composition and, on the right, the imposing façade of a large Parisian department store. Numerous pedestrians, shops, vehicles and a horse-drawn carriage bring a strong sense of movement and life to the scene.
Light is reflected across the street and façades, while the various touches of colour structure the composition. The overall effect is a lively and luminous vision of the Parisian boulevards, in an Impressionist style characteristic of Christof Vevers’ artistic universe.
Technique: oil on canvas
Dimensions: 60 × 90 cm
Hand-signed.
The artist's biography will be provided in French with the artwork upon shipment.
