Description from the seller
Antique Elgin pendant watch “B.W. Raymond” – Railroad Grade Quality (1911) – 10K Gold-Filled Case with Dedication (1927)
Description
This is an exceptional and historically significant American collector’s pocket watch from the renowned Elgin National Watch Co. It is the legendary top model “B.W. Raymond,” produced as a highly precise railroad-grade timepiece.
The finely damasced movement is a technical masterpiece of its era, featuring 19 jewels and regulation in 5 positions (Adjusted 5 Positions), ensuring maximum accuracy. Additionally, an integrated “Safety Barrel” protects the movement in case of a mainspring break.
What is particularly fascinating is the historical symbiosis of this watch: while the high-class movement left the factory in 1911 according to the serial number, the inside of the case back bears a beautiful, hand-engraved Spanish dedication from 1927: “RECUERDO Anatolio. 5-21-27” (In memory of Anatolio, May 21, 1927). The case itself originates from the famous Keystone Watch Case Company in the durable quality tier “J. Boss” (20-year guarantee).
