Roqueplan, de Rudder, Steinheil, engraved by the most distinguished artists. 1844, Perrotin, Paris. 1 vol. in-8, bound from 485-3 pages, romantic binding of the period in half black morocco, smooth spine adorned with romantic tooling, and the title, stamped in fine gold. Spine bordered by a wide gold filet as well as a fine inner margin. Humidity trace on the first pages; see photos. Illustrated work with 56 hors-texte plates under tissue guards, of which 21 etched in steel and 34 wood-engraved, with numerous wood engravings in the text. “Remarkable publication, rare in beautiful condition, illustrated by the artists of its time.”
