Description from the seller
MARÉ SOL (1890) - Mixed media on canvas — pigment giclée, hand-brushed varnish applied by hand · Digital painting · Hand-signed · 2026
A young brunette woman in a white two-piece swimsuit, leaning against the storefront of a gelateria, takes a bite of a red water-ice. Behind the glass, a waiter in a white shirt goes about his work without lifting his eyes; farther back, the beach, the parasols, a very light-blue sea.
The painting creates a game of glances: she fixes the viewer, no one else in the image looks at her. Heat passes through golden skin, reflections on the shop window, and the single saturated red of the ice cream, the only accent of the canvas. Bodies modeled like clay, hair in thick curls detached from the background, storefront treated in broad planes of white, blue and gold that simulate reflections without describing them.
Technique mixte: pigment ink print, hand-brushed varnish for the artwork’s durable protection.
Support: premium stretched canvas on wooden frame, ready to hang.
Format: 40x40 cm
Signed MARÉ SOL · Galerie Labo Joconde / Atelier Joconde · certificate of authenticity provided.
MARÉ SOL is one of the creations bringing together the artists Le Yack, Neo Pablo and Popsan within Atelier Joconde, a family studio where three sensibilities coexist: neo-realism, pop, and free figurative art. Under the name MARÉ SOL, the Atelier celebrates outdoor light and summer bathing, in the tradition of impressionist knife painting: bright sun, translucent water, vibrant impasto and Mediterranean joie de vivre.
MARÉ SOL gathers summer scenes by the water’s edge, dives, swims, lounging in the sun, captured in the brightness of light and the exuberance of youth. The through-line: a dialogue between impressionist heritage and a contemporary gaze, where painterly material enhances and transfigures the printed image.
Each work is a unique piece.
