Description from the seller

ARCA LUDENS (2026) - Mixed media on canvas — pigment giclée, brush-on varnish applied by hand · Digital painting · Hand-signed · 2026

Five children move across a meadow, each holding in front of their faces a papier-mêche mask of an animal: two fish, a fox, a rabbit, a rooster. The rooster's mask carries a long rod topped with a sculpted head and leads the procession. In the background, to the right, an elephant climbs the walkway of a wooden arch stranded in the grass.

The painting establishes a tenacious ambiguity: a festive procession or a march toward embarkation. No face is visible, no gaze answers, and the cloud-filled sky above the meadow promises nothing good.

Meticulous workmanship: masks rendered into material after material, glued paper, chipped paint, visible seams; grass and foreground stones in dry brushstrokes; sky in broad, thick strokes of gray and white. Earthy palette, washed blues, and three saturated accents (orange, red, yellow).

Technique: pigment-ink print, brush-on varnish applied by hand, for the artwork’s durable protection.
Support: premium canvas stretched on a wooden frame, ready to hang.
Size: 40x40 cm
Signed ARCA LUDENS · Galerie Labo Joconde / Atelier Joconde · certificate of authenticity provided.

ARCA LUDENS is one of the creations bringing together the artists Le Yack, Neo Pablo, and Popsan within Atelier Joconde, a family studio where three sensibilities coexist: neo-realism, pop, and free figuration. Under the name ARCA LUDENS, the Studio revisits the flood at child height, in the tradition of magical realism and Nordic genre painting: heavy skies, bare meadows, papier-mâché animal masks, and an ambiguous fable where play and threat no longer distinguish themselves.

Each work is a unique piece.

Seller's Story
