Description from the seller

ALBA NOX - Mixed technique: print with pigment ink, varnish applied by hand with a brush for the durable protection of the work.

A tightrope walker seen from the back, light shirt, advances on a taut cable from one edge of the canvas to the other. He holds a balance beam whose two ends bear long white sails that unfurl in enormous volutes into the void. On the left, absolute black; on the right, a sky of gray and white clouds worked into whorls.
The man is tiny, the material is gigantic. The painting does not play on the vertigo of height but on that of passage: one must go from black to light, and there is only this thread.
A chromatic study of blacks, grays, and whites. The sky is churned with curved strokes that give movement; the right sail is the most densely worked area, pure white in thick impasto.

Mixed technique: print with pigment ink, varnish applied by hand with a brush for the durable protection of the work.
Varnish applied by hand, for the depth of blues and the durable protection of the work.
Support: premium canvas stretched on a wooden frame, ready to hang.
Format: 40 × 40 cm.
Signed ALBA NOX · Galerie Labo Joconde / Atelier Joconde · authenticity certificate provided.

ALBA NOX is one of the creations bringing together artists Le Yack, Neo Pablo and Popsan within Atelier Joconde, a family studio where three sensibilities coexist: neo-realism, pop, and free figuration. The Roman numeral refers to 1891, the year when Albert Aurier defined symbolism in painting — a lineage claimed, not the dating of the work. Under the name ALBA NOX, the Atelier renounces all color to keep only black, gray, and white, in the symbolist tradition and the grisaille in knife painting: material churned into scales, white impasto in full body, tiny figures lost in dark masses and allegories that refuse to be resolved.

Each work is a unique piece.

Seller's Story
