The special feature of this model is the double map display: when switched off you see a political map with national borders, and as soon as you turn the globe on it lights from inside and a physical (physiographic) map with elevation and depth relief appears. Thus it is both a decorative object and an ambient lamp.
The globe sits on a wooden base and rotates in a chrome-plated meridian cradle with degree markings. At the top there is a transparent 24-hour time ring. The lighting works, with a cord switch.
