Description from the seller

Splendid and imposing statue depicting the full figure of Master Michelangelo Buonarroti, dating with reasonable certainty to around 1880 and linked to the refined sculptural production of the second half of the 19th century.

Subject: Michelangelo Buonarroti (full figure)

Origin: France

Period: Second half of the 19th century (circa 1880)

Height: 59 cm

Base: Circular with a circumference of 21 cm

Material and Technique: Casting in an iron and metal alloy (earth casting technique)

Finish: Dark antique patina enhanced by a delicate non-precious golden glaze, barely hinted at.

Details: Base with stylized friezes bearing the inscription "Michel-Ange"

Created in the second half of the 19th century using earth casting in an artistic metal alloy (French régule), a light-era alloy cleverly hollowed inside to optimize stability and thickness.

Condition: very good, conservation status coherent with the period, with an appealing original patina of the era. There is a small crack in the metal at the left arm of the subject, scarcely noticeable and consistent with the object. Unsigned and undated, as is typical of many art editions of the period.

The workmanship is of excellent quality: the details of the face, hands, and garments attest to the great artisanal mastery of the era, making it perfect for collectors of historical sculptures and antiques.
