Description from the seller
Val Saint Lambert – XL Mid-Century centerpiece, cranberry & helder kristal
Impressive and exceptionally large vintage crystal centerpiece/ Coupe, from Val Saint Lambert, Belgium, likely produced around the 1950s–1960s.
The object features a spectacular organic freeform shape with four strongly extended ends. From the center, deep cranberry/amethyst-colored bands run through the clear crystal to the long points. Due to the varying glass thickness, beautiful optical effects and color nuances arise depending on the light exposure.
The shape and construction closely align with the experimental “Pièces de Fantaisie” / Fantaisies Modernes that Val Saint Lambert produced during this period. Comparable large, elongated coupes from Val Saint Lambert are known, including pieces with original VSL labels and signatures.
These organic designs are frequently associated in the trade with René Delvenne, who made important modern and experimental crystal designs for Val Saint Lambert. Because this piece is unsigned or unlabeled, a personal attribution to Delvenne is intentionally not presented as definitive here.
With a length of no less than 61 cm, this is a particularly decorative and sculptural object. It can be used both as a centerpiece/bowl and as a standalone art object.
Dimensions: ca. 61 × 20 cm
Weight: ca. 2.4 kg
Material: clear crystal with cranberry/amethyst-colored inclusions
Origin/description: Val Saint Lambert, Belgium
Period: presumably ca. 1958–1965
Condition: vintage condition with normal signs of use and slide marks on the underside appropriate to age and use. No signature or label present.
A striking and hard-to-find XL piece from the Belgian Mid-Century crystal tradition.
Ships well and carefully packed and insured.
