Important and evocative painting depicting the Pietà, executed in oil on canvas and datable to the late 18th century, attributable to the Florentine school.
The composition depicts the Virgin Mary in the act of supporting the lifeless body of Christ after the Deposition. The scene is built on an intense dark background, from which the figures of the Virgin and Christ emerge, with a strong contrast between the deep tones of the background and the colors of the draperies.
