• Why You’ll Love It

This is the Diana that came back. CHANEL reached into its archives in 2015 and revived one of the house’s most recognizable discontinued silhouettes — and then it disappeared again.

You still get everything that makes the Diana so ridiculously pretty: that sweeping curved border around the flap, pillowy diamond-quilted lambskin, gold CC turn-lock and the beautifully feminine proportions. But the 2015 version has its own identity, including the updated sliding chain that can be doubled for shoulder carry or extended.

And this one is gorgeous. Black lambskin with warm aged gold hardware was already a killer combination, but finding this particular Diana revival in this kind of condition makes it considerably more interesting than another standard black CHANEL flap.

• Excellent Pre-Owned Condition

Beautiful condition with normal light signs of careful carry and no significant flaws worth calling out. The black lambskin remains rich and beautiful with defined quilting, excellent overall structure and a lovely finish. The curved Diana flap maintains its shape beautifully and the hardware presents extremely well.

No rips, tears, stains, significant creasing, discoloration or structural issues noted. Corners, edges, rear pocket, quilting and exterior leather all present exceptionally well for a pre-owned lambskin piece.

• Collector & Reseller Notes:

This is where this bag gets interesting. The original Diana was produced during the Karl Lagerfeld era and became forever associated with Princess Diana, who famously carried the style. The original design was ultimately discontinued in the 1990s. CHANEL then unexpectedly revisited the silhouette in 2015, creating what collectors commonly call the Diana Reissue. Madison Avenue Couture specifically notes the 2015 revival when discussing the history and continuing demand for Diana bags.

It isn’t simply a newer vintage Diana. Collector research documents several deliberate differences between the original and the 2015 revival, including its treated lambskin, more dimensional quilting, updated interior construction, rear pocket and — especially — the adjustable sliding chain that allows the newer Diana to be carried doubled or extended. The collector source I found describes 2015 as the only season in which this Diana design was rerun.
