Description from the seller

The work places itself in the wake of postmodern quotation, where the loftily Baroque mise-en-scène of Giuseppe Bartolomeo Chiari is "profaned" by a pop and hyper-contemporary insert. Replacing the classic fig leaf or the drapery with a basketball sock is not merely a goliardic act, but a reflection on the protection and exposure of the male body.

The reference to the Red Hot Chili Peppers (famous for their "socks-only" performances) transforms the god of intoxication into a Californian rock star, substituting Dionysian ecstasy with the raw energy of funk-rock.

The 60x40 giclée on canvas format stabilizes this visual short circuit into a decorative object that interrogates the viewer about the boundary between sacred and kitsch.

Slasky, as in many of his iconic rewritings, does not destroy the classical myth — he empties it, literally of air. What remains is a glossy, inflatable and transparent surface: the thin skin of contemporary Europe, fragile and constantly at risk of deflating.

Gicleé on Hahnemuhle 350gr + certificate of authenticity

« L'arte non è rappresentare cose nuove, ma rappresentarle con novità »

Slasky is a well-established Italian artist whose works have been exhibited in solo and collective exhibitions at an international level

The artist has the ability to fuse classical artworks with techniques of contemporary digital art. With his neo-urban classic style, he unites tradition and modernity, bringing the protagonists of the original artworks into contemporary social and artistic environments.
