Marcel Cosson (1878–1956) was a French post‑Impressionist painter born in Bordeaux and active mainly in Paris. A member of the Salon des Artistes Français, he earned an honorable mention in 1901 and a third medal in 1911 there. He also exhibited at the Salon of the Société Nationale des Beaux‑Arts and at the Salon des Tuileries.
Cosson established himself as one of the great chroniclers of Parisian life: operas, theater foyers, backstage of ballets, circus scenes, and fashionable society. His work, vivid and luminous, captures the refined atmosphere of the Belle Époque and the energy of show business.
Today, his paintings are sought after for their narrative charm, elegance, and the ability to evoke an entire Parisian way of life.
