AIIROH (1987)
Aiiroh, born in Narbonne in 1987, is a French artist.

In his youth he began as a graffiti artist at train stations in various cities, places where artists have easy access to large walls.
In the early 2000s he became acquainted with stencil technique, allowing him to create art on the street faster.
Under the guidance of a friend he eventually discovered the work of the "affichists" such as Raymond Hains, Villeglé, Dufrêne and Rotella.

The latter became a true obsession for the artist. "I draw a lot of inspiration from this movement, which for me has a great poetic dimension! Sometimes I spend whole nights wandering to find and seize the poster I like. I think I add a touch of optimism and color and I don’t want to politicize my work, but now more than ever my artist practice of 'affichiste' finds an echo in the Hains exhibition from 1961, which moved me a lot: 'France in pieces.'"
In some of his works Aiiroh incorporates brand marks to remind people of humanity’s dependence on consumer goods. The anarchy of the drops, the turbulence of the compositions, stand in contrast with the pure lines of the graphic design of the brand logo, but also with the famous LOVE logo by the American artist Indiana. Has the graphic power of these logos also influenced our collective unconscious and our aesthetic norms?

He has been exhibiting for several years in about twenty galleries in France and abroad (Switzerland, Italy, the United Kingdom, Greece, Israel, the US, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan).

"Thanks to Banksy and before him Blek le Rat, young street artists like me can gain visibility they otherwise would never have had. Works that used to be intended for a few passersby in a dark alley can now be seen by many more people. Social networks, especially Instagram, play a big role in the rise and explosion of street art." I see myself as a street artist, but also as a pop artist in the original sense of 'popular', bringing street culture to life. I love irony and enjoy playing with references and icons that resonate with and connect my generation. I usually try to radiate a spirit of love and optimism.
