"Avant l'Image" this title names an impossible-to-grasp moment: the moment that precedes all creation, all form, all decision. Neither pure chaos, nor established order. The in-between. This fragment of time where something is about to be born — but does not yet exist.
PRIMARY DESCRIPTION
Avant l'Image is a monumental work that captures the suspended moment between chaos and form, the vertiginous moment when matter hesitates before becoming an image.
On a cotton canvas stretched on a wooden frame (75 × 115 cm), the composition unfolds like an emergent architecture: powerful geometric structures spring from a relief-worked background, evoking both the rigor of an architectural plan and the organic fluidity of a natural formation.
The snowy, white, dense contour draws the edges of a central shape with almost mineral precision — as if the material itself had decided its own boundary. Inside, gold highlights traverse the composition like flashes of light frozen in the matter, revealing an unsuspected depth beneath the textured surface.
The work plays on a constant tension between:

By working the relief, the accumulated material layer by layer, I wanted to make visible this invisible moment. The texture is not decorative; it is temporal. Each thickness is a hesitation, each ridge a decision about to be made.
The gold highlights are not adornment; they are the light of the zero moment, the one that precedes everything.
