Bio:
X-Art — Contemporary Artist
Born in Belgium in 1976, X-Art is a versatile contemporary artist and a graduate of the Académie des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles.
From an early age, art has played an essential role in his world. Painting, sculpture, photography… each medium offers him a means of exploring, transforming and reinventing the world around him.
His work is driven by a desire to reinterpret the images and artworks that have shaped our collective imagination. X-Art draws upon familiar references from art history and popular culture, appropriating and transforming them to create a contemporary vision through a distinctly pop art, contemporary and urban language.
His artistic universe is defined by a powerful visual energy where pop art, street art and contemporary expression converge. Vivid colours, textures, graffiti, collage and layered materials come together in works that immediately capture the viewer’s attention. Behind this striking aesthetic lies a reflection on the way we see ourselves, present ourselves and protect ourselves through filters, appearances and symbols.
Portraiture has become a central part of his recent work. Glasses, altered gazes, anonymous figures and iconic faces become the starting points for a dialogue between identity, emotion and perception. Each work invites the viewer to look beyond the first impression.
Colours, contrasts, reinterpretations and graphic elements come together in compositions where the familiar can become unexpected. His approach is not about reproducing, but about reinventing: taking a familiar image, deconstructing it and bringing it into his own artistic universe.
In 2019, his paintings were listed and valued by Akoun, an internationally recognised reference in the field of art valuation.
For several years, X-Art has presented his work at numerous international contemporary art exhibitions and art fairs, including events in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Deauville, Lausanne, Zurich, Monaco, Brussels, Haute-Savoie and Strasbourg.
His works have entered the collections of numerous private collectors around the world, reflecting an artistic universe whose primary aim is to evoke emotion, capture attention and leave a lasting impression.
Today, X-Art embraces a free, accessible and borderless approach to art, standing at the crossroads of contemporary art, pop art and popular culture.
