Description from the seller
Songs of the Salles de Garde - Paris, At the Expense of an Amateur, 1948. loose-leaf edition.
Limited and clandestine edition.
This is copy number 475 of 950 numbered copies, printed on high-quality laid paper (vergé).
Richly illustrated with satirical, naughty and humorous erotic compositions in the text and full-page plates. With 14 large plates.
Fully complete in the original illustrated cardboard folder (map) and protected by the accompanying, original cardboard slipcase (étui).
In very good condition the slipcase shows some light signs of wear.
This striking collector’s item contains the traditional, often bawdy and humorous chansons paillardes that have been sung from generation to generation by French medical students, interns, and doctors in the on-call rooms of hospitals.
Given the risqué and subversive content, the work was issued anonymously and self-published in 1948 ("Aux dépens d'un amateur"), specifically for enthusiasts and collectors of medical curiosa.
