Description from the seller
ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD EXISTS - EDITION 1/1
With this square-format work, Medsan places an Imperial AT-AT — the war machine from the Battle of Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back — at the heart of a polar landscape that draws on Nordic romanticism, the icy seas of Caspar David Friedrich, and Arctic expedition narratives. The Star Wars quote is immediate, but treated as a landscape motif rather than a battle scene. The cartouche メドサン discreetly signs the lower right corner.
The image shows the three-quarter quadruped, head lowered, neck stretched to the left, its cannons pointed toward an empty horizon; ice stalactites hang from the armored belly and joints, as if the machine has been waiting there for days. In the bottom left, a tiny skier in a dark jacket and orange scarf pulls a loaded toboggan and moves forward without looking up. The palette stays within off-whites, blue-gray tones, and beige snow, warmed by a single orange spot and a pale sun gap. The composition contrasts emptiness with mass: two-thirds snow and sky on the left, the colossal figure relegated to the right, and the gaze shifting back and forth between man and steel beast.
The whole meaning of the mashup lies in this scale. The saga’s most intimidating icon becomes a landscape obstacle, a relief to be bypassed, while the real action unfolds in the person hauling a load through the powdery snow. Medsan reverses the hierarchy of the spectacular: the epic takes a back seat, ordinary perseverance takes the lead.
A quiet, instantly legible piece, ideal for adding a touch of hushed science fiction to a contemporary interior, an office, or a wall for a pop culture collector. What you receive is a unique giclée print on canvas, numbered 1/1 and hand-signed, from a pigment-based workshop print — an image that mimics oil painting and its rich brushwork, in a single edition that exists only once in the world.

About the Atelier:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists brought together around a living, plural contemporary creation. Established as a true center of artistic production, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realist influences. By his side, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo follows a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, art brut, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, produced, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
