With this square-format work, Medsan relocates Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's Little Prince onto a Japanese hill, facing Mount Fuji and a five-story pagoda that evokes Fujiyoshida's Chureito. The 1943 hero, his tamed fox, and the rose under a glass dome leave the B 612 asteroid for the most famous motif of the Japanese imaginary, the one Hokusai captured in his Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji. The blooming cherry trees and hanami complete the bridging of the French tale with the Japanese print.

Both figures are seen from behind, seated side by side at the edge of a rock, and this choice places us exactly where they are: we look at the landscape with them, never at them. The yellow scarf stretched horizontally by the wind and the green suit with a red belt echo the orange fur of the fox, still, ears pricked, the tail spread over the stone. On the left, the rose under its glass globe is placed slightly apart, the sole deep red note in the lower half; above, a cherry branch spans the top of the frame and lets petals drift through the sky. The palette chosen by Medsan — saturated pinks, washed-out blues, solar yellow — leads the eye diagonally, from the tree on the left to the disk of the sun and to the red pagoda on the right, passing by the snow-coned volcano.

The mashup conveys one idea in two languages. The rose under glass is the bond we protect and make unique by taming it; falling cherry blossoms embody mono no aware, beauty that matters because it does not last. Between the two, the fox watches over the central lesson of the tale: one only sees clearly with the heart.
