Description from the seller
There is only one in the world - Edition 1/1
With this square-format work, Medsan places Batman and the Joker — the two cardinal figures of the DC Comics universe born under the pen of Bob Kane and Bill Finger in 1939 — in a composition that imitates the stained glass of Gothic cathedrals. Lead network, saturated red panes, light passing through: the vocabulary of sacred art seizes the most famous duel in American comics. The chapel welcomes the bat and the clown, and treats them as equals.
The image shows the two adversaries in profile, facing each other, separated by a width of an arm. Batman occupies the left, his night-blue cape falling in long spear points, jaw clenched, white gaze riveted on his counterpart; the Joker answers him on the right, green hair swept up, blue suit and acid-green shirt, the smile from ear to ear. Between them, exactly at the center, a heart ace passes from a gloved hand to a green hand, and it is toward this card that the great flash of white glass traversing the red field diagonally converges. At the bottom, Gotham is reduced to a few gray and pale amber panes pierced with lit windows, while cracks run across the stained glass on the Joker’s side; the cartouche メドサン signs the lower right corner.
Choosing the heart ace is not incidental: the Joker extends a heart where his signature card was expected, and Batman is about to take it. The stained glass, however, does not cut — it places the two men in the same panel, on an equal footing, like two saints in the same bay. The light is born neither from one nor the other but from the gap between them, and the cracks start from the laughter. The entire mythology of Gotham lies in this symmetry: one cannot exist without the other.
A graphic, frontal piece, ideal to bring a pop yet solemn touch to a contemporary interior, for a discerning collector or a fan of DC culture. What you receive is a giclée print on canvas, produced as a single copy in the world, numbered 1/1 and hand-signed — a pigment print that faithfully reproduces the depth of the reds and the firmness of the line.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a studio of artists gathered around a living and plural contemporary creation. Situated as a true site of artistic production, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, mixing abstract art, naive art and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, produced and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity of its own for each artist.
