In Thinking My Home, Nara deploys a recurring motif, that of the house or home, to explore themes of identity, belonging, and memory. The work translates what the artist himself calls "the home" not only as a physical place but as a mental, emotional, and memorious space.

The central figure, often childlike, gazes at or contemplates a minimalist background, which creates a void around it: this void heightens loneliness, nostalgia, or even existential questioning. The title suggests a thought directed toward the home ("My Home"), evoking reflection on one’s past, on one’s roots, on the relation to "home" that changes, is lost, or transforms.

Yoshitomo Nara is a major figure in Japanese contemporary art, recognized for his childlike characters with ambivalent expressions, blending innocence and rebellion. His visual universe, influenced by pop culture and punk, dialogues with that of artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Takashi Murakami, or Takeru Amano. On the international stage, his work resonates with Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, or KAWS.
