Large Baroque Style Leaf-Gilded Wall Mirror
France, Mid-20th Century
A beautiful and highly decorative French wall mirror in an exuberant Baroque/Rococo style, featuring an elaborate sculptural frame with rich scrollwork, foliate decoration, shell motifs and elegant ornamental details.
The frame is made of a resin/plaster composite, although it has a remarkably convincing heavy quality appearance and feel reminiscent of carved wood. The frame has a warm, aged gilded finish which gives the mirror considerable character and presence.
An original sticker remains attached to the mirror, reading “Doré à la feuille”, indicating a leaf-gilded finish. The sticker can easily be removed if desired.
Condition:
The mirror is in very fine condition for its age, with no damage. The gilded surface shows only minor natural signs of age and use, adding to its authentic character. Please study the photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.
