Sculpture, San José con Niño - 33 cm - wood paste

An antique Spanish religious sculpture depicting Saint Joseph with the Child Jesus, made of wood pulp and polychromed.

The piece presents the aesthetic characteristic of Spanish religious imagery, with a possible stylistic relation to the Olot School, an important center of religious imagery production since the late 19th century.

The ochre and dark tones of the polychromy stand out, as well as the expressiveness of the figures and the beautiful natural aging of the piece.

Condition: it shows wear and losses of polychromy typical of its age, as well as some cracks, small voids and losses of material, visible in the photographs. It is preserved in its original state, unrestored.
