Rare Vienna Bronze by Franz Xaver Bergmann – “Nam Greb” (Nude / Erotica, ca. 1895–1920)
For sale is an exceptional and rare Vienna bronze sculpture from the high era of Orientalism (late 19th / early 20th century, ca. 1895–1920) from the renowned foundry of Franz Xaver Bergmann.
Details & Features:
• Subject: Expressive oriental female figure (Nude/Erotica) with a prominent bulldog on a leash, standing on a intricately worked, cold-painted Oriental carpet.
• Signature: Fully stamped on the underside with the coveted Bergmann stamp (“B” in a jug) as well as the artist’s signature “Nam Greb” (Bergmann’s well-known anagram pseudonym for erotic and oriental motifs).
• Condition: Very good original state with expressive patina and authentic traces of the original cold painting.
• Dating: Created in the heyday of Viennese bronzes around the turn of the century (ca. 1895–1920).
