Description from the seller
Not your doll - 39 (n.745)
The measurements are:
- collage: 50.00 x 40.00 cm
Acrylic painting on shredded paper on canvas
I create paintings using acrylic paints and thousands of small pieces of recycled paper: everyday paper turns into art instead of ending up in the waste.
On these tiny pieces of paper you can read words and phrases scattered here and there.
Often this happens when we really approach another person: sometimes we perceive their secret messages, sometimes not.
In my latest works I have focused on the theme of women treated as objects (dolls) and too often victims of violence, and these are the latest pieces I created.
"Not your doll" - "I am not your doll" is a series where I intend to represent the faces of women with features reminiscent of the most classic dolls, and the message is: "even if I look like a real doll, I am not a doll, your doll, and you can do whatever you want with me" with all that lies behind, up to, unfortunately, violence.
The surface features small reliefs and I enjoy caressing it, feeling it...
I also use acrylic resin on the surface, which gives a glossy effect and protects the colors from sunlight and dust.

Born in 1974, I am self-taught.
After an initial period dedicated to sculpture there was a long standstill lasting almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I resumed with the "two dimensions" for reasons of time and space, leaving sculpture behind and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings.
I love painting abstract landscapes but in the latest period I am also pushing myself to paint faces of people both imaginary and real.
For me painting is "freezing time" in that exact moment; my painting is often a faded memory and therefore my works are "worn, eroded by time". Sometimes the subjects of my paintings are views of walls also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that - over time - grow on the surface.
Time that passes inexorably is the main theme of my works.
Coming from a beautiful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch, and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs clearly perceptible to the touch as well as to the naked eye.
Recently, after several years in which my works were created from small pieces of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden discs arranged in lines and grids with mathematical precision that seen up close seem to form an abstract, colorful picture but the farther you go, the more a portrait emerges made up of many painted wooden discs.
Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all of my works when I reproduce the faces of women, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or courage to report that they are not their partner's dolls and cannot be mistreated or worse, victims of violence.
